You’ve heard all the arguments stating “If you don’t like it here then leave” when it comes to the pride that’s held in America, or the hatred that’s held for its various policies and ideas. The amusing thing about this is that other countries that people would gladly flee to, in some cases, are so much worse.
Those born and raised in America have never known what it’s like to live in those countries where the rights they take for granted would be limited or non-existent. They have no idea what it might be like to have to live under constant fear that their voice would be silenced simply because they decided to voice their opinion.
Are all countries like this? Of course not. There are countries that would gladly accept those that want to leave America and possibly open their arms wide, so long as the Americans attempting to become citizens were ready to follow their rules. But given that these privileged, yes privileged, Americans don’t always want to follow the rules here, that might be kind of an issue.
America isn’t perfect, and the chances of it becoming that way are slim to none since too many people seem to feel the need to talk but not act. They want things to change, but instead of showing just how they can accomplish this they block the roads and halt progress, they make life difficult for others that have little to no personal stake in their protests, and they seek to divide those that might actually be torn between their cause and that of the other side.
And their response to being told they can leave? Oh that gets very amusing.
“I can’t afford it right now.”
“Why should I leave?”
Well, to be honest, if you don’t love a place you’re living in, then the best option is usually to get up and go and build a life elsewhere. America isn’t bound to be perfect anytime soon, but the chances are good that it will keep operating so long as there are those that act as moderators to agree that there are problems, but there are also ways to move forward.
If you don’t like the place you live, then by all means, no one is putting a gun to your head or physically restraining you when it comes to leaving. But if all you’re going to do is talk then do everyone a favor, please, and at least open yourself to discussion.
