The ideal job for a lot of people is being able to do what we love and love what we do, but many of us don’t ever achieve that dream since we make compromises that lead us down different pathways, away from what we want. There are many that would say that this is done in a purposeful manner since what we want isn’t always bound to be the best thing for us no matter how badly we want it. But if you can luck out and turn your passion into your job then it becomes a boon to your self-esteem and your life in general. Sometimes taking on your passion as your job becomes a grind if you acquire it too soon, and you lose the drive you once had for it.
You don’t know what you’ve got if you get it so easily.
It’s very hard to appreciate anything if someone just hands it to you. There those who might argue against this point by stating that they want everything and will appreciate it if people just give it to them. But at what cost? That empty feeling you get in the pit of your stomach at instant gratification without any hardship, without any feeling of having worked for it, is something that many people experience when they know they don’t deserve something. By working hard to attain the job you want and inject the passion you feel into it you come to the realization that had you been given the chance before you were ready, you might very well have failed to appreciate the chance for what it was. By having to earn something we’re passionate about we come to understand it’s real value in our lives.
The moment your passion becomes a grind, it’s become work.
Some might say that this means you weren’t really passionate about it in the first place, but they’d be both right and wrong. Passion is like anything, it takes a great deal of work to maintain it and to keep it strong. Those that want to work at it and make it into something will stay the course, while those that want the rewards without the effort are leading themselves into hardship since without passion, talent doesn’t account for as much as people think.
Do what you love and love what you do.
We don’t all get to have our dream jobs in this world and while it’s a sad thing to think a lot of us do manage to realize just how lucky we are. If you go through one day after another thinking that you don’t make a contribution to anything, that you don’t matter in the grand scheme of life, or even listen to someone that might say such things, then you might need to find what you’re passionate about. If you’ve found it and are living the life you want regardless, then you’ve still found some meaning in this life and are to be congratulated. We live day to day with what we’re given, and for some this means living out each day being pleased by the little things and grateful for what we have. Others get to do what they’re passionate about, and still be just as grateful.
No matter your passion in life, make it work for you however you can.
