No it’s not a joke. What’s wrong with it? The union of marriage is supposedly all about two individuals that are in love and care for one another deeply, so who cares what gender they are? A man marrying a man, a woman marrying a woman, and so on and so forth since, without offense, the issue of gender has become a rather complicated one lately. The point is, marriage between two individuals that genuinely care about each other should be what is important, not that they are of the same sex. But of course opinions are bound to vary and those that stick to the old and stolid ways they were taught would rather keep the idea of marriage as it was back in the old days.
For years now same-sex marriage has been a massive issue that has continued to divide people and cause many of them to recite lines of scripture and spew little more than vitriol and baleful comments upon the LGBT community. Religious groups such as the notoriously hurtful and hateful Westboro Baptist Church have been crying out against homosexual individuals and seeking to deny their right to marriage for some time in fact.
Even those that seem to have forgotten what the sanctity of marriage actually means, such as Kim Davis, have attempted to deny same sex couples the opportunity to join in the spiritual union that they desire. And lest anyone forget, none of those that have been allowed to exercise their freedom of speech, including Davis, are perfect. A woman that has been married 4 times denying anyone the right to marry seems a bit hypocritical. Yet she was seen as a hero to those who share her views.
To say this is hypocritical is not unlike kicking a dead horse since there are facts rolling around out there that seem to get ‘misplaced’ and ignored all the time. Here are just a few that you might want to think about.
Heterosexual couples get divorced twice as much as homosexual couples.
Those that don’t to believe can go on deny it but this is a statistical fact. Whatever the reason, same sex couples are more likely to stay together than heterosexual couples and are no less committed to one another.
Christianity tends to denounce homosexuality, and yet…
By now a lot of us have probably read or heard these words:
If a man lies with a male as with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination; they shall surely be put to death; their blood is upon them. (Leviticus 20:13)
But has anyone bothered to remember this one?
Religious groups tend to think they’ve got the market cornered on things such as love and fidelity.
